3
Firmware Setup
- Connect the ST-Link programmer to the STM32F413RG SWD header on the auxiliary controller board.
- Flash the ANPR auxiliary controller firmware supporting ignition timing, pulse synchronization, TIM1 PWM generation, and telemetry streaming over the CP2102N UART interface to the NVIDIA Jetson AGX.
4
Testing & Calibration
- Apply a variable DC bench power supply from 9V to 36V to the power input terminals and verify stable 5V and 3.3V step-down conversion alongside IGN_SENSE signal logic.
- Test isolated digital inputs (DIN1, DIN2) using dry/wet contact stimulation and verify high-side switch (BTS7008-1EPP) actuation on DOUT1_CTRL and DOUT2_CTRL.
- Verify TIM1_CH1 and TIM1_CH2 PWM output signals for precision IR illuminator synchronization, and test telemetry communication over UART with the NVIDIA Jetson AGX.

Risk register
| ID | Area | Severity | Detail | Mitigation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| r1 | thermal | med | Infineon BTS7008-1EPP driving heavy inductive loads inside a closed DIN rail plastic enclosure may experience thermal accumulation. | Ensure proper copper pour allocation on the PCB for heatsinking the high-side switches and verify maximum continuous current limits. |
| r2 | emi | high | High-speed PWM outputs driving external IR illuminators can couple high dV/dt noise into the adjacent digital inputs and UART lines. | Route PWM traces away from sensitive analog/input lines, use series damping resistors on gate drivers, and maintain solid ground reference planes. |
