- Integrate the USB2514Bi-AEZG USB hub controller, wiring the USB3 TX/RX and USB2 D+/D- lines from the V1605B SBC to downstream peripherals including the RP2040 keyboard microcontroller.
- Install the AX210.NGWG.NV M.2 Wi-Fi 6E module onto the SBC PCIe slot and wire the PCM5102A Audio DAC to the SBC using I2S signals (BCLK, LRC, DIN) along with 3.3V and GND.
3
Firmware Setup
- Flash QMK/VIA firmware onto the RP2040 microcontroller via USB to properly scan the custom mechanical keyboard switch matrix and map HID keycodes.
- Install operating system (Linux or Windows) on the V1605B SBC storage drive, configure drivers for the AX210 Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, and install hardware-accelerated video codecs for streaming.
4
Testing & Calibration
- Perform electrical continuity and power path verification using a multimeter to validate 12V_VIN, 5V, and 3.3V rails under load from the BQ25896RTWR charging circuit.
- Test display output resolution (1920x1200), touch responsiveness, audio playback via PCM5102A DAC, Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, and full mechanical keyboard input functionality.

AMD Ryzen Embedded x86 Gaming Cyberdeck ★
High-performance x86 handheld SBC architecture for native modern offline gaming and high-definition video streaming.
Trade-offs: Higher performance and native Windows/Linux gaming support at the expense of higher power draw and tighter thermal management requirements compared to ARM alternatives.
ARM SBC with Translation Layers Cyberdeck
Lower power ARM-based computing architecture relying on software translation layers for gaming and media streaming.
Trade-offs: Extended battery life and lower cost/thermal dissipation, but compromised native compatibility for modern PC games.
Key IC selection
main x86 processor / SBC
- Need: High-performance x86 CPU/GPU with low TDP (15-25W) for modern 1080p gaming and hardware video decoding in a compact form factor.
- Class: Embedded x86 SoC / Handheld SBC
- Shortlist: AMD Ryzen Embedded R2314, AMD Ryzen Embedded V1605B
- Pick: Select based on long-term industrial availability, TDP configuration options, thermal design constraints, and direct eDP/PCIe lane availability.
battery charger and power path controller
- Need: Multi-cell Li-Ion battery charging, USB-PD fast charging input handling, and seamless system power path switching under high transient loads.
- Class: I2C-controlled multi-cell buck-boost battery charger and power path management IC
- Shortlist: TI BQ25896 + Intersil ISL9237, MPS MP2940A + companion charger
- Pick: Choose based on input voltage range supporting 20V USB-PD, quiescent current, switching frequency, and availability of evaluation boards with proven thermal performance.
wireless connectivity module
- Need: High-speed Wi-Fi 6E and low-latency Bluetooth 5.3 integration via M.2 or PCIe/USB interface for streaming and peripheral pairing.
- Class: M.2 2230 Wi-Fi 6E / Bluetooth 5.3 combo module

Risk register
| ID | Area | Severity | Detail | Mitigation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| r1 | thermal | high | AMD Ryzen Embedded R2/V-series processors (15W-25W TDP) housed in a compact cyberdeck enclosure with an integrated mechanical keyboard will create severe localized heat pockets, risking thermal throttling. | Implement aggressive copper heat pipe routing to a dedicated rear/top exhaust fin stack with a controlled blower fan, and design thermal isolation barriers between the SBC and the mechanical keyboard switches. |
| r2 | power | high | Gaming workloads cause rapid transient current spikes on the 19V/12V rails from the Ryzen SoC, potentially causing voltage sag that triggers system brownouts or resets if the power path IC and bulk decoupling are undersized. | Select a high-current capable power path controller (e.g., ISL9237) and place low-ESR ceramic and polymer bulk capacitors directly adjacent to the SBC power input stages. |
| r3 | emi | med | High-speed eDP display lines, USB 3.0/3.1 traces, and M.2 PCIe lanes running close to the Intel AX210 Wi-Fi/BT antennas inside a tight enclosure can cause desense in the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. | Ensure strict ground plane continuity under high-speed differential pairs, keep antenna placement away from internal USB 3.0 routing, and use shielded internal cabling. |
