组装指南
3-5 hoursIntermediate
1
Procurement & Preparation
- Source and inventory all raw components including TYPEC-304J-BCP16, AP2112K-3.3, ESP32-C3-MINI-1-N4, SSD1306-330MT, ICM-42688-P, BME280, and TS-1187A-B-A-B.
- Prepare the PCB stencil and apply lead-free SAC305 solder paste onto the top and bottom pads.
2
Hardware Assembly & Wiring
- Place surface-mount components (AP2112K-3.3, ESP32-C3-MINI-1-N4, ICM-42688-P, BME280) onto their designated pads using a pick-and-place machine or manual tweezers.
- Pass the assembled PCB through a reflow soldering oven with a standard lead-free thermal profile (peak temp ~245°C).
- Manually hand-solder or hot-air reflow the through-hole / surface-mount TYPEC-304J-BCP16 receptacle, SSD1306-330MT OLED display, and TS-1187A-B-A-B tactile push button / RGB LED.
3
Firmware Setup
- Connect the smart wearable prototype to the host PC via a USB-C data cable connected to the ESP32-C3 UART/USB pins.
- Compile and flash the firmware image utilizing the ESP-IDF framework, configuring I2C communication for the SSD1306 display, ICM-42688-P IMU, and BME280 sensor, alongside GPIO mappings for the button input and RGB LED status.
4
Testing & Calibration
- Perform power-on self-test (POST) by connecting a 5V USB power source to the TYPEC-304J-BCP16 receptacle and verifying the AP2112K-3.3 regulator outputs a stable 3.3V rail.
- Execute functional validation testing: verify OLED screen rendering via SSD1306, stream motion data from the ICM-42688-P IMU, read environmental parameters (temperature, humidity, pressure) from the BME280, and test button/RGB LED feedback loops.

Single-Module Wi-Fi/BLE IoT Core Architecture ★
Utilizes an ESP32-S3 pre-certified stamp-hole module with USB-C power, a compact SSD1306 OLED display, and an I2C sensor suite.
Trade-offs: Lowest design risk, fastest time-to-market, and strict compliance with <30x40mm PCB limits.
Key IC selection
Main system MCU and wireless connectivity
- Need: Execute application firmware, manage peripherals, and support concurrent Wi-Fi/BLE links in a compact form factor.
- Class: Wi-Fi + BLE Combo MCU Module with integrated flash and antenna
- Shortlist: Espressif ESP32-S3-MINI-1, Espressif ESP32-C3-MINI-1
- Pick: Select ESP32-S3-MINI-1 if dual-core performance and AI vector instructions are needed for UI/sensor processing; select ESP32-C3-MINI-1 for cost-sensitive single-core baseline connectivity.
3.3V System Power Rail Regulation
- Need: Convert external 5V USB power to a clean, stable 3.3V rail with low quiescent current and fast transient response.
- Class: Low Dropout (LDO) Voltage Regulator
- Shortlist: Richtek RT9013-33GB, Diodes Incorporated AP2112K-3.3

Risk register
| ID | Area | Severity | Detail | Mitigation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| r1 | thermal | med | Linear regulator (LDO) dropping 5V to 3.3V in a compact wearable enclosure can cause localized heating if continuous current draw spikes during Wi-Fi transmission. | Ensure adequate copper pour around the LDO pad for heat dissipation, or consider a small step-down DC-DC switching regulator if average current exceeds 150mA. |
| r2 | emi | med | High-frequency Wi-Fi/BLE transmissions from the module placed close to sensitive I2C/SPI sensor lines and the OLED display interface can induce noise. | Maintain proper clearance between the module's RF antenna area and digital traces, and ensure robust ground planes with solid stitching. |
| r3 | mech | low | USB-C receptacle mechanically stressed during constant plugging/unplugging in a handheld or wearable deployment can crack solder joints. | Use a mid-mount or hybrid-type USB-C connector with robust through-hole shielding tabs anchored securely to the PCB ground plane. |
Bring-up and Validation Plan
- Power-off inspection and rail resistance checks
- Current-limited first power-up; verify every rail before enabling loads
- Validate interfaces and timing one subsystem at a time
- Run thermal, fault-injection, EMC pre-scan, and endurance tests for the target environment
